Your First Class at Ember Pilates

Here’s exactly what to expect for your first visit

We’re glad you’re here.

Below is everything you need to feel prepared for your first class.

Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early so we can get you checked in, show you around, and answer any questions before class begins.

Reformer Classes

  • Grip socks required for safety and stability

  • Forgot yours? Grip socks are available for purchase in-studio

Mat Classes

  • Grip socks recommended for barre classes

  • Bring a mat, towel, and water

No mat?
A limited number of mats are available to borrow, and high-quality mats are available for purchase.

  • Drink water before and after class, especially for infrared-heated sessions.
  • Let your instructor know if you’re new, pregnant (heated classes are not recommended), or working with any injuries so they can best support you during class.

Shoes and phones stay outside the studio so you can focus fully on your movement and your time.

If you’re brand new, a great place to start is Mat Pilates Foundations or Mat Pilates (non heated), where you’ll learn core movements with clear guidance and a supportive pace.

If you’re interested in the reformer, we recommend starting with our Reformer 101 Workshop so you can feel confident using the equipment before joining regular classes.

If you prefer a more personalized introduction, private sessions are a great option. You’ll receive one-on-one guidance tailored to your body, goals, and experience level—perfect if you want extra support or are feeling unsure where to begin.

From there, you can explore other formats based on how you want to feel—whether that’s more strength, more intensity, or something slower and restorative.
